WITCH HUNTING IN SALEM

Director:  Jaime Riaño.

Producers: Edna Castillo, Evelyn Gualdron.

Script adaptation:  Valerie  Durán, Juan Carlos Mendivelso, Fabian Pérez.

Genre:  Tragedy.

The Crucible is a true-based story that relates the witches’ pursuit that took place in Salem, Massachusetts during the 17th century.  That was the starting point of several infamies and contradictions such as authoritarianism, repression and intolerance; aspects that not only affect American's current society but also many of the contemporary cultures.
The play is about Elizabeth's Proctor case.  She and other respectable ladies in Salem were accused of witchcraft by some capricious girls leaded by Abigail Williams. In order to save Elizabeth, her husband John decides to reveal some intimate secrets related to Abigail, although it could become his death sentence.
The play is a critic to the conservative and hypocrite society of that time, and touches the most sensible part of the spectators.
Arthur Miller wrote the play in an old-fashioned way using 17th-century structures and vocabulary to give more realism to it. The “E” Theater has changed some of this Structures and lexicon to make the play easier to understand, and as well, some dialogues and characters have been deleted for the sake of time.

Four Grimm tale adaptations. 'Mother Holle', 'The three golden hairs of the devil', 'Godmother death' and 'Clever gretel. Appropriate for audiences under 12. This play is a fussion of comedy, tragedy, passion, fantasy and much

more .
